So the UK gets it a day earlier and with two bonus tracks.
And people wonder why they download albums off the internet...

The copy protection is easy to break. If you look at the CD under a light, you'll be able to see an extra band around the CD right at the end of the audio. This extra band is actually a dummy track which feeds the computer blank information. Since whenever a CD is inserted into a computer drive, the laser goes to the end of the disc to find the discs contents, in these copy protected CDs, the drive will find blank information. Therefore, the drive won't think there's a CD inserted at all. Fixing this is simple - when you find the dummy track at the end, physically take a sharpie, or any other permanent marker, and blacken out the track at the end. The computer won't be able to read it, and won't encounter blank information - then the CD will play, and can be ripped as MP3s.
To everyone who complained about import CD prices:
Download the bonus tracks. End of story.

Baker said: "Well, since we only recorded 15 songs, and we wound up blowing off two of them before we even put vocals down, I can categorically say that the 20 song Euro-version of The Empire Strikes First will not exist"

I really hope there isn't copy protection on the import CD :(
I just bought the import version of A Perfect Circle's Mer De Noms... and the damn thing won't play in my PC, or rip or burn or anything else.

They put bonus tracks on European versions because cds are more expensive here and because they tour here less.

maybe he didnt see overture as a song, so that would even fit, but its just a guess.

dont care too much what baker said, its not written into stone. and he is getting old....
i can say i have seen several japanese imports in europe, like generator, but they are so expensive, its not justified to buy them.

My guess is that it's imported from Europe. If im not mistaken Bad Religion has released some records in Europe with bonus tracks before. Japanese releases usually have bonus tracks due to high cd prices, and the Japs won't buy them if it isn't something extra on.
But it's practically impossible to import records from Japan for some reason (at least if i'm to believe my local record dealer who told me all this about Japan). So that's why my guess is Europe. Does anyone know any facts about the release since all this only is my own speculation?

Bonus tracks? Didn't Brian Baker say they recorded only 15 or so tracks for the album? Maybe it's just a mistake of Amazon.

And ikillkenny, I agree completely with you, it doesn't make sense. Hopefully they will be on the single though.

I'm happy there will be songs I haven't heard! Really hope this one will be released in Sweden, or I'll import it! But not for 40 dollars!

Someone explain to me why they don't put all of the tracks on the U.S. release of the album. I really don't get it.
They could at least put the songs on this year's Punk-O-Rama but they're not even going to do that even. Blah.
