what i recommed for pictures is a canon elph camera. they're incredibly small and they make a 5 megapixel version now for about $400 american, but obviously that may be too much for a lot of punks out there, so you might start with the canon powershot s110, which i believe is a 2 or 3 megapixal camera for under $200 USD. you can jam those things in a sock or even hollow out a little bit of your shoe to fit it in if the security is tight... they're fricken tiny, so most Vans or whatever could be hollowed enough so that your foot wouldn't be put in major discomfort... the Canon Elph Powershot s500 also does up to 3 minute videos with sound that's pretty decent. that would cover most punk song lengths. just make sure to get huge compact flash memory cards.

Weird, the crowd just stands there.... no pit. Or hardly one...
And you actually get searched for alcohol and cam's in Sweden? Damn.

At the Lund show they didn't even searche people at all. At the Sthlm show I spoke a bit to the guard about my bag containing alcohol. When we were finished, I asked if he didn't have to search me (cause he just let me through), he said he didn't have to cause I was so nice :)

ok, for everyone who wonders how i got my cam inside:
i filmed these clips with a regular "still-picture" digi-cam. no DV-cam. it's a Minolta Dimage XT with which you can record about 5 minutes of video (with a 128mb memory card).
since it isn't a videocamera no one objected to me filming (they must have thought i took still-pictures)
Anyway, at the stockholm-show (and most swedish punkrock-shows) there was no heavy searching at the doors so getting a real DV-cam inside wouldn't have been a problem.
my cam have a function for recording audio too. it can hold about 90 minutes of audio and i regret not having recorded the whole show. i will certainly do that next time since the sound quality exceeded my expectations (it sounds pretty good, doesn't it?)

Just watched the Digital Boy-clip, and it seems to me that the audience in Helsinki was much wilder. But you know it?s a whole different thing to be in the pit than watching a video, so you can?t make your judgement without being there.

@Regnol Evil:
I know, this won't help you much but as I was asking myself the same question and looked for info, the only good article I found was this one:
www.punkunited.com/bootlegging.php
Perhaps you should inform yourself about how thorough they are searching at the entrance of the show you are going to visit.

I'd like to congratulate that guy for his snapshots of an obviously really great show. The quality of the *.mov files might be average but you can almost feel the atmosphere! THANX A LOT!
