Greg obviously sees "scientists" as an important community / demographic to perpetuate enlightenment values in the world. I agree. I'm not sure how much cultural anthropology Greg has read, but I would have expected a more subtle understanding of religiosity in humans--at both the individual and community levels. In a nutshell, religion / religious norms are part of an individual's connectedness to others. Belief is not a simple matter of assessing the evidence and the logical consistency of propositions. Imagination and emotional investment are ever-present.
People create their realities--as Greg sings! Where his main beef is, when they don't "leave his to him". That's a core enlightenment value (tolerance), and many both religious and non-religious agree with it. To be honest, the "god debate" is a huge distraction from way more important issues. People will always believe fucked up shit--get over it--and science is not going to save the world.

[quote=John M. Yannotta]Evolution, Monism, Athiesm, And The Naturalist World-View" is a very good piece of reading material, if you don't like it, you're not worthy of even being at a BR show, nor do you understand enlightenment of The Man behind the words... (I have my own hand signed copy...)

you should totally send me that and I'd thank you forever

I really would like to read this. i've searched worldcat, and nothing showed up. Evolutinary Biology is really interesting when Greg Graffin writes about it. He should know that he is an influence on me scientifically as well as musically.

This pages that i have published here was taken from a company who sells dissertations and they published the summary and the first 24 pages for free (like some type of commercial). The fact is that all dissertations are public (atleast in Sweden but i think it's the same in the U.S.) so you could go to your university library and order that dissertation if you want. So i don't see any wrong with giving Greg Graffin some commercial for his dissertation.

I don't understand what you are talking about: legal or illegal - does it matter? You should ask the author's permission first. Did anybody ask Greg if he wants that a part of his dissertation was published here? In an interview he said, that he's going to write a book using this dissertation. Is it fair to publish it when the book isn't written yet?

Yeah it would be illegal to publish the document on the web if I bought it from that company. But if I can get the document from the author himself or his scool and if he (Greg) is willing to publish the document on this site, then it wouldn?t be illegal (and it would be free). I know that my university can order dissertations from other unis for free so i can check with them too but i can't do that until Monday 'cause it's some kind of holiday here right now.

Grillo, you're absolutely right that it's not legal - but is a site selling students' doctoral dissertations legal either? Something seems pretty fishy about the whole thing...

Sorry people but thats not legal. EG if you have SKY TV in a pub you have to pay about 10-20times more.
So to make it legal then you would have to pay about 200-300 dollers and i cant see that happening, JUST BUY THE FUCKING BOOK!

TO KRISTOFFER THE ADMIN:
I have an idea - if the PDF costs 27 dollars, why don't we get 27 people who post on this site who want to read it to donate a dollar to you via PayPal, then you can buy the PDF, and then we can file share it. What do people think of that idea?

That's fucking awesome. I can't wait to read it in its entirety. To think this guy was able to juggle a PhD and BR is pretty incredible.
Here's to more success for Greg G and BR!
