The Oklahoma Daily's entertainment staff jots down their fave concerts, albums and movies that you may have missed out on this past summer.
Top Five Concerts
5. Warped Tour 2004 in Dallas (Bad Religion, Guttermouth, Bouncing Souls, Taking Back Sunday, The Vandals).
4. Papa Roach ? The rapping?s gone, the focus is on solid rock songs, and the set features covers of Queens of the Stone Age and Stone Temple Pilots. Sixty minutes of intense hard rock isn?t as easy to come by these days as it used to be, so when it?s done right, it?s quite rewarding.
3. KISS ? Say what you will about Gene Simmons? money-grubbing ways, but KISS? stage show is still quite a thing to behold, and very few do big, dumb rock better.
2. Eric Clapton?s Crossroads Guitar Festival ? Pretty much every guitarist of significance showed up to this three-day event in Dallas. Seeing Clapton, B.B. King, Jimmie Vaughan and Buddy Guy onstage at the same time was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
1. Ozzfest ? Ozzfest reigned again as the festival to beat, featuring it?s most solid lineup in its nine year history. Slayer, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath all in a row was almost too much to take. The second stage had its own killer trio of Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Slipknot. Oh, the brutality.

I assure you I'm quite aware of the scope of Eric Clapton's career, and I think he blows the mad dong.
Perhaps if I had said, "I sure wish I could bone George Harrison's wife to have a hit song" you would have found it more amusing. Eric Clapton is to the blues what Sting is to jazz: a watered-down, lite rock milquetoast for suburban white people who are troubled by the thought that "the brown people" played it first. You know Oklahoma's a shithole when those are the top 5 shows to go see, and two of them require leaving the state. Eric Clapton's Guitar Festival? Fuck. I sure wish I could push my kid out of a window to have a hit song.
