Released in June, "Empire" bowed at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and No. 40 on The Billboard 200. Lead single "Los Angeles Is Burning" topped out at No. 40 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Bad Religion contributed the album track "Live Again (The Fall of Man)" to "Genocide in Sudan," a compilation aiming to benefit the war-town African country due in November from Waxploitation Records.

The band also offered another "Empire" track, "Let Them Eat War," to Fat Wreck Chords' "Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2" compilation which last month debuted at No. 45 on The Billboard 200.
