Here's the unreleased Bad Religion song i promissed. Please write a line below if you know about this song already.
I've got this song and info from Ben Z. Here's what he wrote about the song:
The cd is called "Bad Religion unreleased LP's". It starts off with "Moonshine Whisky", and also contains Universal Cynic, and Dream of unity. There was no release date written on the CD, and the artwork is minimal. Just a big WB emblem on the front cover of the cd.
Oron, who owns the original cd found it at a garage sale, and purchased it for 1 American dollar because he had never even heard of this cd. I can pretty much assure you the Brett had nothing to do with the CD because of the other songs on the album. My guess is the cd was made in around '98, but never released. How it wound up a garage sale no one will ever really know.
So there it is. I will give you more info, as I get it on the cd. All the info was just recalled since Oron is out of town, and just recalling this off the top of his head.
It has a southern country sound to it. I know Greg was influenced by folk style music, but this is way beyond that. It truly is like nothing I have ever heard before from the group. It definitely is bad religion, as I have seen them over 20 times, and have all their albums, etc.

therightclique - I remember seeing those videos too, and you're absolutely right. Baker does talk about liking to play bluegrass. I've listened to the song a lot more now, and the solo definitely sounds like an LP. I'd love to know what head he's playing through on the rhythm part, though. Definitely sounds unusually thin for an LP.

i don't remember which site it was on, but there's a series of guitar lesson videos that baker did a year or so ago .. might only be two videos.. but in them he talks about how when he's not playing br songs, he likes to jam back porch shit like this and he even plays a sample on a white gibson lp... i guarantee you that you can get lps to sound like this, but whether its him or not, i cannot say.... also, fuck claudio and anybody who sounds like claudio.. nobody could do graffin that well. its impossible. not only that, but i downloaded moonshine whiskey like 10 months ago and it sounded like greg then too... i doubt they'd consider this a bad religion song, even if all members are playing.. i'm sure it was never really meant to be part of their catalog

The more I listen to it, though, the more it sounds like Baker's playing style on lead guitar. Also, did anyone else hear that fiddle in the beginning before the lyrics kick in?

Thanks for the upload! Definitely sounds like the real deal on vocals to me, but what surprises me is that the guitars sound like Fender Strats. Baker and Hetson play strictly Gibsons. Brett, however, sometimes plays a strat. Could it be that he was in on this song? Additionally, it's very bizarre that it was a Warner Bros. release. When did BR have ANYTHING to do with that label whatsoever? Interesting stuff!

Not necessarily. I have 7 acoustic "Coheed and Cambria" that you would swear 100% is Claudio singing, but they are confirmed to be fakes...You wouldn't know from listening to them though. |

Here are the lyrics as I heard them. I think they're pretty fucking close. The only part I can't get is when Greg says something that ends in "boys" before he repeats the chorus at the end.

The empire get 3 out of 5 from me. There is no "broken" or "sorrow" on it. But I'm glad they don't make a lot of songs like this. But maybe we will hear a new version of this on Greg's 2nd solo album :P I mean "american lesion" were songs " that didn't fit on the other BR records' that would be FUN!

Hello, my name is Oron. I am the owner of what might be the worlds only copy of "Non LP Tracks", a 4 track freak on nature featuring Moonshine Whiskey. Ben and I have been huge Bad Religion fans for many years so you can imagine my excitement when I found this puppy. It was definatley the most excited I've ever been about finding a new album. Anyway, I'm glad it's now in the hands of loving Bad Religion fans. I'm over 500 miles away from the original CD which has all the info (tracks, dates, etc...) but will share them with everyone as soon as I get them. Does anyone know what Graffin sais right before the guitars begin on Moonshine Whiskey? Something about Seagrum Seven? Peace
