Hey, saw the band Nov 3rd at the Kool Haus in Toronto. Was my 3rd BR show, I saw them May 15th '99 and Mar 28th '98. I didn't like the venue as much or the $4 for a bottle of warm water! From First to Last was a good opening band, they play some great music but the singers stage presence loses their live show some points, still a great band. Then it was Rise Against. I'd never heard them but they seem to be quite popular with the kids, shows how much kids know. Their sound was unoriginal, everything sounded the same, some songs had moments where i started to like it but it quickly changed. Overall these guys were a let down in my opinion but their fans were pleased enough by the performance.
Bad Religion took a bit of time to take the stage after that. This was the 3rd time i've seen them but it was the smallest of the 3 shows. I found that odd seeing it was in a much larger city than the previous 2. Still being smaller made it a more intimate atmosphere. The songs were quick and played perfectly, most of the lyrics were clear and vocals came through well. There was some gab from Greg to the audience, some comments on the election, an I Hate America comment which may have been because they were in Canada, perhaps not. They commented on the lateness of the show (which did suck cause I had to sadly catch a train and missed a bit of the end). I really like a lot of their new music from the last couple albums and they played a bit of old and new for everyone. First time I didn't go in the pit for any show ever (yes I am getting old but that wasn't why:P ) but it was alot of pushing and shoving going on, far too much crowd surfing, hate crowd surfing, the dumbasses.
One of the best bands out there for music and show quality. Thanks again guys!
