Alright, heres a review of last nights show (6/8 HOB Anaheim). Evening started with a surprisingly good female punk foursome called "Go Betty Go". Well, at least I thought they were good. No moshing or anything, but no booing either. After they made their exit we stood around for a good 45 minutes in the pit. Curtain finally opened and to my surprise I see that Brett Gurewitz has made an appearance. Recipe for Hate is played as the opening song and the crowd eats it up. Couple more songs are played and Graffin notes someone who was holding up a t-shirt. He asks "Whats that t-shirt you're holding up?", then some guy throws him up a Samhain shirt and Graffin asks if he can have it. Then he says something about how people think he looks like Glen Danzig then throws the shirt back to the guy. Couple more songs are played and then Graffin gives an update on the live DVD. He says that everyone who was standing up front will probably be in the movie. He jokingly points at some kid and says I'm pretty sure you're in it. Then he looks to his right, points at another kid and says " I think they edited you out, no offense". The show continued and they put on a stellar performance. Towards the middle of the setlist, Greg Graffin told the crowd he'd like to dedicate "the space between the songs" (meaning the time inbetween eachsong when their just fartin around) to a man named Michael....... Jackson. He then proceeds to explain how Jackson was an inspiration to him, before he became and I quote a "child molestor".
Brian Baker and brooks wackerman start playing that intro to Jackson's "Black or White". Jay bentley then sez "How sad is it that we know that song?".... then he accusingly points at Brian Baker.

The show continued on without much worth commenting on. I thought the setlist was satisfactory but in the wrong order. They started with Recipe for hate, but I dont think they should have opened with that song, epecially since there are so many others that tried and true good opening songs. Thats all im gonna say about that cause I dont wanna start ranting. When they started to play some song, I think it was "the defense", someone threw up a Raiders jersey. Graffin caught it, held it up and with a sarcastic scowl on his face, gave it a thumbs down. When they played Delirium of Disorder, Greg mentioned that the song actually was started by a different member of Bad Religion. I cant remember if he said it was Jay Bentley, or if he pointed to him, cause then he said " Betcha didnt know it was him. Jay started the song with some affect on his mic that made his voice come out deeper. Interestingly enough, my friend said that Graffin did indeed although quietly say "hey" right before the song got to the fast part.

So they finished out the set and walked off stage. However the curtain never closed so everyone knew that the show wasnt really over. A lot of guys and gals were shouting "1 more song" over and over again. The lights on stage were off, but you could see the shape of Graffin as he walked back out on stage. He then looked to his right and said "Hey guys, its ok, the curtains closed." The rest of them come out and get ready to finish the show. Graffin jokingly said, "we were going to play 3 more songs, but since you asked for only 1 more...." So they finished the set and everyone filed out.

Afterwards my friend and I went upstairs and while in line for some BR merch, my friend and I spot Greg Hetson. As soon as he walked through the doors I point at him and say "good show!" and he acknowledged my comment with a nod of his head. My friend actually had balls to go up and talk to him and using that window of oppourtunity, I was able to ask him if indeed they played "The Answer" the other night and he said yes. I said it was cool cause it was my favorite. Hopefully theyll play it again sometime. So thats my review.... now heres the setlist. Theres no way in hell im gonna get it in any accurate order, but Im pretty sure I can remember all the songs they played.

6/8/05 Great show, Brett was there, all the band members were smiling and having a good time. Greg dedicated the time between songs to Michael Jackson, kida funny. They actually did a encore. We met one of your brothers from England, great guy. They said they would put a new c.d. out next year, the dvd by the end of this year. Set list: not inorder, 21century, Receipe for hate, conquer the world, S.t.f., Epipany, Sorrow, Modern man Siniste rouge, You, Kersone, atomic garden, Man w/ mission, Suffer Delirum, Generator, La burn. F-Armageddon, infected, Materialism, The defense, No control, ENCORE, Along the way, Do what youwant, American Jesus.
