Just have to add my 2 cents. Don't forget about when BR went to atlantic. They have and always will be about the messege. When you care more about the messege then you will take whatever steps neccesary to make sure everyone hears its. What they do with it after they "hear" it is another story. IMO

im not buying the shoes (due to the X-TREME punk rock pricing!) but i dont think theres anything immoral about them... at least, they arent more immoral than any other mass-produced, generic product. if the extra cash helps br continue to make excellent entertainment, so be it.

ahem. and i quote from the book of eat your dog: "Leave the caring of what's punk and what's not punk to the children in high school that are insecure about themselves as individuals!"
you say this, and yet you seem to have a very strong stance on the subject (ergo: you care) and you keep posting in order to make sure your interpretation of punk is known and possibly with the hopes of it being accepted. if you didn't worry about it as you imply, you would not have a single post here.

Everything thing you know and everything you will do or have done to stick it to society or the social norm has been done before...dated back the dawn of civilization. In return is has been bought up my corpurations and big business and sold back to the masses...one way or another.

All I'm saying is why care? There is NO SUCH THING AS COUNTERCULTURE... everything is mainstream. Read the book I mentioned in one of my earlier posts. And who the fuck are you to say what's what? Express yourself... c'mon Madonna got it right... and you're supposed to be a Bad Religion fan...

That's exactly it Rat Guy. Leave the caring of what's punk and what's not punk to the children in highschool that are insecure about themselves as individuals! And you know everything sounds batter on vinyl. And no, I don't have a mo hawk...

If your gonna bitch about there being a BR logo on some shoes then you had better have the same feelings about the third parties that produce Bad Religion T-shirts as well.. not to mention the sweatshirts, skateboards and beltbuckles. Why the hell not shoes?

Damn straight, Jon. But i don't think Eat Your Dog will read it. He's either out listening to his early 1980's era 13 inchers while spiking his mohawk or perhaps lacing up his new vans with Good Chorlotte's latest blasting out his earphones. He's too punk to care.

Look, I don't believe Bad Religion have sold out. However, I do have a problem with them aligning themselves with a corporation. That's just my view, and yeah, my view of punk. Heed what you say 'Eat Your Dog', and respect my interpretation of punk.

Mike, $15-18 is pretty standard for band shirts here in the US. And though apparently some of you guys spend a lot more on your shoes, but I never paid more than $35 for sneakers. I'm not gonna say that paying $50 is "not right". There's just no way I'm going to do that, especially for shoes I don't really like. I wouldn't pay $20 for a shitty BR shirt either (like that breast cancer design a few months ago).

So buying a bandshirt or an album for 20 is oke, but buying shoes for 50 is not, right?
I think you need to explain that...

I'm a huge BR fan, but those shoes?
They look like something you'd pick up from an army disposal store or kmart store for 10 bucks.
If they had the Bad Religion name plastered on them (the logo with flames would look cool) and were all black, i'd buy em, but they're horrid.

There is no such thing as "Selling Out" There is nothing to "Sell Out"
I suggest that you people read a book that Mr. Brett recommended to me personally. It's called "Nation Of Rebels: Why Counterculture Became Consumer Culture" It's by Joseph Heath and Andrew Potter.

What the fuck?
This is utter bullshit. It's kinda a kick in the balls to see a punk band aligning themselves with a corporation like this. I love the band and their music, but I really don't think this is cool.
I'm sorry, but man this is fucked up.
It's further ammo to the "Bad Religion are sellouts" view.

I've never spent $50-$55 on any one Bad Religion item and it's certainly not going to be these shoes.
