Many Floridians are familiar with the pain caused by Hurricane Katrina. Most have been through at least one devastating storm.

This empathy for storm victims promoted an outpouring of action in Gainesville from the grassroots up within the local artist and music communities, breeding several charitable events, including Turn the Tide 2 and a telethon sponsored by local radio station 100.5 The Buzz.
