BR wrote those lyrics when they were like 16-18 year olds...You can't tell me that they haven't gone way above and beyond that sort of mindless shit now. But Anti-Flag has made a career of spewing out those same kinds of lyrics, and trying to pass it off as deep, meaningful commentary. "Indie Sux, Hard-Line Sux, You Suck"?? Or singing about nonviolence and peace in their songs and then having a song entitled "Kill the Rich"? Or how about this recent gem: "fuck the flag, the fucking flag, fuck the flag!"
Dude, if you like them and they mean something to you, than by all means, continue to listen to them. I'm just saying they're not my cup of tea.

"Congress runs your daily life. but they brainwash you to think it's freedom... We're all just slaves under stricter masters. We're all salves." "Your dying you assholes your religion can't help you now." -BR
You tellin' me that's poetic, responsible and intelligent?

I don't hate bands that sing about politics, I just don't like the ones that seem to sing about them just to sound important. Now I'm as concerned and suspicious about the Bush administration as the next American, but labeling the US "fascist" and comparing it to Nazi Germany is a wee bit too much. The boys in Anti-Flag apparently haven't taken too many political science or history classes in their lives. BR gets to the point of what is wrong with America these days and does it poetically, responsibly, intelligently (and with solutions in mind). Perhaps when Anti-Flag is able to do the same, I will respect them more.

I said get killed, not kill yourself. There's a difference (kinda). Anyway, my point was that most people who hate anti-flag are usually talking about the newer stuff and have never listed to their best albums. And besides, if your gonna hate bands for singing about politics, then you have to hate the Dead Kennedys, Nofx, the Clash, etc.

I love the first three Pennywise albums, but they went downhill after Jason died. The stuff they put out after was okay, but nothing compared to "Pennywise" "Unknown Road", or "Full Circle". And anyone who thinks Anti-Flag sucks needs to listen to "Die for the Government" or "A New Kind of Army", and if they still say they suck after hearing those fucking awesome albums, then they should go get killed.

I gotta admit, Jim Lindenberg is a freakin Genius. Anybody who can some how continue to recycle their own lyrics to some fast palm muted power chords over and over and over again and still sell records is a genius. Its almost like hes some kind of song writing super hero. Hes taken out all that ingenuitive baggage and replaced it with tradition and mediocrity. No wonder his fans love him.

i love pennywise. i can throw in any of their records, save the new one, and be totally in awe of how much they can rock. i certainly hope they will rock again, because the fuse sucks balls for a pennywise record.... its a huge drop off from "from the ashes" and an even bigger dropoff from any of their previous records. from the ashes is a decent record (though not awesome), while every single previous release was excellent.

I went to ticketmaster and that says the show is happening, but none of the bands sites say that the show is happening, nor the Congress's website. However anti-flag's site, and rise against's site say that the show is happening later in the month. I know ticketmaster has messed up before, so i'm just saying it could be again.

I tried to point out on Punknews comments section that those Rise Against/Anti-Flag shows they listed that BR was playing were wrong.
This information I gave is 100% valid seeing as how I got it directly from ticketmaster.com, just go to ticketmasters site to find out for yourself. It says Bad Religion & Pennywise and where it shows more information it has "Opening Act: Anti-Flag" right there.

I wonder if this story is right. Because Anti-Flag are supposed to play in later Nov. with Rise Against in Chicago. Punknews.org has BR listed on those dates as well, but nothing about playing with Pennywise on the 10th.

STOP WHINNING ABOUT LYRICS, the new pennywise record has the same raw hardcore sound that they havent had since full circle, there is more to music than lyrics. There riffs are stronger and rock harder than every before so if u dont like it go fuck urself

ik agree with kesvah something... But I think another reason that I don't like HCHBAW as much as the rest is becuase of greg's voice and the soundquality. On Tested I think Fuck armageddon and part 3 sound great

Pennywise is like porn. When you see/hear it the first time as a teenager it really blows you away. But too much of it gets boring, quickly. Years later you think it?s cool to have some of it once and awhile. But no-one needs MORE of it, you know that it?s the same fucking thing everytime.

Pennywises song Dissconect is the worst ever. either the songs are starting to sound the same, or they just fucking suck
who says "ready go" in a song like whatever he says it in and back to dissconect:
Just too much information
Electronic Stimulation
All this media saturation
Just gives me more aggravation
Gather round your television
Micro waving our religion
Download RAM and Gigabytes
Won't let computers run my life
Wanna Disconnect
I wanna break free
motherfuckingly lame as shit.

Hmmm, no anti-flag are sell-out comments yet? I mean, screaming fuck kapitalism on stage and then going to the same record label as christina aguilera.... But hey, I never really liked them anyway.
And i agree pennywise sort of does the same thing over and over again. But it's all good in my opinion. Listening from the ashes as i type this and it's a good album. The fuse isn't that great, but bad religion has the new america, so one album that's a bit less is nothing to be shamed of.
If that big ocean wouldn't have separated me from chigaco i would certainly go there. Bad religion rules, pennywise is great live and i can sit through anti-flag if i must.....

i don't flat out hate the new pennywise record, but everything on it has been done before by them thousands of times.. they rip off their own lyrics. disconnect is one of the worst songs they've ever written. i don't care how hard or fast the album is. pennywise has never had a problem being fast. i saw them in 2003 and they put on a decent show, but they just don't seem like they care anymore.. they just say the same old things. and some stuff is worth repeating, but only to a reasonable extent. calling it a masterpiece must have been a joke. i can't see how anyone who has followed pennywise could think that. its still better than most of the mainstream stuff, but its nothing compared to any of their first 6 albums...

WOW are u kidding me, im so sick of hearing ppl complain that the fuse is bad and has no heart. The fuse is one of thier fastest, hardest, catchy albums to date. It blew me away, just when i thought pennywise was done for, they come out with this masterpiece which is one of their best yet.
ps BAD RELIGION PLZ COME TO DETROIT, and bring pennywise with u

man, this would've been so awesome if it was back when pennywise stilled cared about music.. even two albums ago... the fuse has no heart at all.. he just repeats the same lines about "society". they steal whole bits from Offspring and Bananarama songs. I really liked pennywise up through land of the free, which has some great songs, but also the signs of their fall. from the ashes has some reasonable stuff on it, but it just feels like they don't care. the fuse is pretty much complete garbage.. way too boring to listen to more than 3 times.
