I don't know much about Jewish traditions and rituals, so could someone please tell me what a yarmulke is? Is it some kind of hat you wear?
I think this isn't really relevant news, but it's funny that someone sells something like that and expects people to pay a lot for it. And it's okay to have irrelevant but funny news items.
Does someone know if it was sold at all? And if yes, how much they paid for it?

For example the time when Brett was selling his house and many pictures of the interior could be found on the internet.
And of course, weddings, divorces, kids, deaths, etc.
Damn, this news item right here has to be one of the low points in brpage history...
...but it is technically BR related news, so I suppose it had to be reported even if nobody wanted to purchase the item. please tell me one thing.
if you?re a big bad religion fan, and love their music, and everything the band stands for. and if you maybe admire these guys as persons too.
then still, WHY OH WHY would you pay over 160 $$$ for a headpiece that one bandmember once wore for a night as a kid?!??! why on earth would you include that in your BR collection and feel like a cool punk rocker still?

As for writing songs, it seems they write the same way John Lennon and paul McCartney did for the Beatles. They each wrote separately, but they showed them off to each other to see how they could improve them or maybe it's just that sometimes each other's ideas rubbed off on the songs while in the studio. Which is why when Graffin wrote by himself for TGR, NS and NA the songs were good, but not exactly as good as Greg and Brett writing/recording together, same as how McCartney and Lennon's solo music went off in completely different directions, some great songs, some bad, but none nearly as good as when they were a team.

being jewish in america these days is more an ethnicity than a religion to many. so people often acknowledge it through religious practices or customs that htey may not buy into.

i bet when bad religion finally breaks up and they're all old, and their evenings consist of a milkshake and late night TV, they'll finally admit that Hetson wrote every BR song

All the songs say Graffin/Gurewitz to trick us. Besides, Brett probably writes his lyrics, sends to Greg, who does up the music, hence, both get credit. Just like rush, lyrics by peart, music my lee and lifeson. All get credit, each guy does his part. Easy as that. All there is is a great song, and probably is brett, just like la is burning is definitely brett. great shit.

Cool, but am I the only one who noticed the really disturbing band picture the yarmulke lays on? Why the hell did he put a picture of the infamous punk-turning-nazi-band Skrewdriver there???!! That's really disturbing...

brett mentioned in an interview, that "all there is" was the first song he wrote for the album.
and as far as i remember, they usually dont write songs together. i dont know why they sticked with those unspecific credits on the last album, people who listen to br usually know after the first listening who wrote the songs anyway, with a few exceptions.

I'll believe in god when 1 and 1 are 5 is an Orwell's 1984 reference. Infact Orwell's 1984 is reference in many aspects of Bad Religion lyrics and cover art from the beginning to the present.
The seller of this auction was also the seller of this auction: 4786675092
Brett and Hetson both confirmed that the pressing plates for Into The Unknown and cover for Back to the know featured in that auction are legit. Brett said that the seller was not the real owner of that stuff.
Lastly, I sent the auction for the yarmulke...
Most likely Brett wore yarmulke's at his wedding for respect to his family and parents. Just becuase you don't believe in religion, doesn't mean you don't have the respect for people that do.

We just know from our Bad Religioknowledge. And Brett confirmed it anyway. So you're telling me you also think all the POB songs were written by Brett and Greg? They really don't write songs together. American Jesus, Suffer and Forbidden Beat are the only exceptions off the top of my head...

In the booklet it said all songs were written by Greg and Brett, except for a few which it points out.
Where do you find who wrote each specific song since I guess they meant "Greg and/or Brett".

All There Is is a Brett song. Duh! Do your homework, Neil. BryanJ, I was actually referring more to Brett's wedding (circa 1989) where they also wore a yarmulke. And yes, I used to believe Brett was more of an Agnostic (Generator) but a couple of years ago on the old BRMB I remember he said he didn't believe in God. But then again, his beliefs might fluctuate like everybody else's. I mean, in Do What You Want it was "... but I'll believe in God when 1+1=5...", then came Generator, then came All There Is... Anyway, I admit we can't be 100% sure about these things just because they're written because people evolve and what they thought some time ago might change in the future... That's why we can't trust The Answer database anymore because many entries date back to 1997/1998. Gee, some people still think Jay is married! Sorry, I'm such a BR freak * runs and hides *

Good observation, hopeless housewife...I feel that though Greg is a self-professed, and as you said, intellectual atheist, it seems that he wishes he could be proven wrong.

i know that Jay has said that he believes in God/higher power. I'd imagine that Brett does too, as a lot of his lyrics indicate a frustration with God, more than a denial of his existence (i.e. Sorrow, Incomplete, etc.) Its more Greg that is an actual atheist, but you can tell by his lyrics that as much as his intellectual instincts want him to be an atheist, he still feels like there something more out there (i.e. all there is, shattered faith)

I think Brett does believe in God, actually...or at least some kind of all-powerful being. He doesn't subscribe to any one religion, but I think he's more of an agnostic than an atheist. I could be wrong, though. In fact, I once read somewhere that Greg Graffin was the only atheist in the band...any one know anything to back this up/correct me?

He did receive this in 1975, so he would have been like 12 or 13. Even if was nonreligious at that time, he still probably would have done it because of his parents.

I remember also seeing Brett's (pinky) WEDDING yarmulke on E-Bay. But mind you, it isn't his. It belonged to one of the wedding (in this case Bar Mitzvah) attendees who are made to wear them. In any case, the seller is sure in desperate need of money. Just imagine some hardcore fan going backstage and asking Brett so sign the yarmulke hahaha Now, I don't know why Brett would wear those if he says he doesn't believe in God let alone in any religion. Mmmmmmmm, now that I think of it in fact he came up with the Crossbuster logo to represent Judaism and their hate on Christians! ;-)
