Baker's main guitar is a 1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior, which is "Sunburst" with a white scratchplate. It has no original parts. It consists of Repro Tuners, a Seymour Duncan Custom P90 Dog Ear pickup (ceramic magnet), and a Glaser bridge.
His second guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Custom shop R9, a Chicago Music Exchange exlusive. It is "Kindred Burst" with a Carmelita neck.
Baker's third guitar is a black 2002 Gibson Les Paul Cutsom Shop, which has a Seymour Duncan custom humbucker.
Brian uses Marshall MKII Plexi handiwred reissues (h'es not sure what year, but guesses they were made in the early 1990's). His amp heads have the "Dookie" mod, which is a cascading gain mod. He has two heads that are the same and are run trhough a LEHLE AB Switcher. One of the heads was Billie Joe Armstrong's from Green Day that he borrowd in 2011-2012 and never gave him back. He runs the gain on the amps at around 2 or 3 o'clock.
When using the Marshall, he uses a Brown Box power conditioner, which gives you perfect power at slightly higher voltages (he runs this at 122). He learned this from watching the AC/DC "Rig Rundown" video.
Additionally, Brian uses Kemper's modelling heads which he made a profile of his JCM 800 head from when he played in Junkyard (he learned about these from vocalist/guitarist of Less Than Jake, Chris DeMakes). These go direct into the soundboard.
Baker uses Mesa Boogie cabinets, which he believes have vintage 30's in them, but he's never opened up the back to check them out.
His pedal is a Peterson Strobe tuner, which he believes is more accurate than the Boss TU-2.[1]
