"Father Christmas" is a remake of the song of the same name, originally written and recorded by UK rock band the Kinks.[1] It was released on November 29th, 2013 as a 7" etched single and to all digital streaming platforms.[2]
Jay, Brian, Mike, and Brooks recorded the music at a soundcheck in Paris and a hotel room in Warsaw, Poland. Jay sang to give Graffin a heads up on how the song went. Greg recorded the vocals at home after the tour. He most likely slowed the tape down because it was probably just out of his register. He also added some "Ray Davies"-ness to the way he sang it; so those two things added up to it not really sounding too much like Graffin. It was Mike Dimkich's first recording with the band.[3]
The artwork from the cover depciting Santa Claus smoking a cigarette came from a 1951 Pall Mall cigarette advertisment.
