Barresi is a music producer and engineer. He was the engineer for The Empire Strikes First and producer for New Maps of Hell,  The Dissent of Man, True North (album), and Christmas Songs (album). He also produced the one-off singles "The Kids Are Alt-Right" and "The Profane Rights of Man." 

He has worked with bands such as Tool, Kyuss, The Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, Tomahawk, L7 (who were also labelmates with BR from 1987-1989), The Jesus Lizard and Powerman 5000.

Joe also produced Land of the Free? (2001) by Pennywise, which features "Who's on Your Side?", co-written by Brett.
