The Roseland Ballroom was a historic music venue located at 239 W. 52nd St, just off Broadway, in New York City, NY. It closed permanently on April 7, 2014.
The Roseland Ballroom opened in 1922, at its original location of 1658 Broadway. It hosted such musicians as Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller and his orchestra, Will Rogers, and Tommy Dorsey and his orchestra. The Roseland moved to its second and final location on December 27th, 1952. This location hosted such artists as Van Morrison, Hole, Alanis Morisette, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Sex Pistols, and Soundgarden. It also hosted many Broadway show and movie premiere parties. The rear of the building faced The Ed Sullivan Theatre, most recent home of "The Late Show with David Letterman." It's final show was on April 7, 2014, hosting Lady Gaga. [1]
