The second verse contains the following part:
"Yeah you waste your time with losers if you get stuck in a rock-n-roll band.
Do you find it more rewarding to compete with morons throughout this land?"
However, instead of "band" and "land", Greg sings "bau" and "lau".
Jay: "We had adopted the habit of ending every word with au (or ow) because of a friend of ours named Henry whom we called Henrau... so that bled into the song... it's not rock and roll bound, it's actually rock and roll bau,... across the lau..."
Parts of the song's melody appear to be taken from Neil Young's song Op-er-a Star (from the 1981 album Re-ac-tor).
