Over the course of many years many fans have recorded their own versions of Bad Religion songs. Some very good, some not so good. Some true to the original, some very different in style. However, all of them are made by fans, for fans. You!
One of the first initiatives for a compilation of Bad Religion cover songs was a tribute tape called "Punk Rock Songs by the Mohawk Chain Leather Brigade" created in 1997 by members of the Bad Religion Mailing List (BRML). This initiative was continued by The Bad Religion Page who started calling the tapes that followed the first one simply "Bad Religion Tribute Tapes". In total only three volumes were ever released (in 1997, 1999 and 2001) and although it was officially announced in 2004, a fourth one never came to be.
There were many attempts to imitate the original Bad Religion Page Tribute Tapes, but none of them contained songs that were made with the same compasion, dedication and creativity.
In October 2009 we thought it was about time to once again start putting together a successor to the third Tribute Tape. So after 8 years we're picking up where we left off. However, as times have changed we're doing it slightly different. First of all... no more tapes and no more CDs! As of now we're just sticking to MP3 downloads. And instead of waiting until we have about 18 songs and then release them as a compilation, we're now releasing sets of approximately 5 songs and call them "TheBRPage Tribute EPs".
Don't worry, contrary to what you normally see on Youtube, being able to sing or to play an instrument is not a prerequisite. You're completely free to do whatever you want covering a Bad Religion song. Whether your song is a piano ballad, an acoustic rendition, a spoken word, a reggae song, a techno version, or a straight-forward punk track, it all fits perfectly into this DIY project.
