The anemic anthems spouted off by Greg Graffin on Bad Religion’s 17th release fit nicely into the rebel rock that's starting to come up through the ranks. It’s hard to believe Gaffin when he sings, "You’ve got a chance to confront the world today," on the opener "You’ve Got A Chance" or the follow-up "It’s A Long Way To The Promise Land." The band’s sense of revolution is diluted in Green Day-punk riffage.
Granted having their songs sound like the countless punk bands’ they’ve influenced since their inception in 1982 might result in having these songs inspire the masses. Who wouldn’t want to hear teenagers in mass screaming and pumping their fists to "New America," whether or not it would inspire them to trash or simply avoid shopping at The Gap, Starbucks or HMV is debatable though.
Bad Religion’s music is easily digestible, singable and ultimately enjoyable, but it’s no Rage Against The Machine.
