Well it's like the backing vocals are singing
"What's the sense of Heroes and Martyrs"
while greg is singing
"Tell me which deity you are praying to"

By far my favorite Bad Religion CD so far. Maybe not their best, but def. my favorite. Does anyone have any ideas what the background vocals are in Heroes & Martyrs?
I know this much, but can't make out the rest...
"Our Heroes and Martyrs.... Tell me what's the sense of **********. ?
Any ideas?

If you failed to pick this album up today, I suggest do it as soon as possible.
Bad Religion has always and continues to remain the eptiome of lyrical genius; also, not to mention how powerful this new album is musically and lyrically delivered in full-on, traditional, Bad Religion, punk rock style: raw, innovative, enchanting (musically), enlightening (lyrically), different, incomparable, philosophical, and like the rest of them- almost supernatural.
Gitcher fucking mind blown! The lyrical content is so dense I'll bet it'll have you digging deep into your mind for weeks.
Witness human and global-consciousness at it's best---> Bad Religion, (not about to stop.)

Unfortunately my routine celebration of BR day (once a day) didn't go as planned. First I forgot my cd player before headin to the local record shop. Bummer, record shop didn't carry the album on vinyl, had to buy the cd, only. Then, it was off to the Plasma bank. No cd player. 4 hours of plasma, no food, passed out, still got my 40 bucks, though. It's midnight and I just got through Dearly Beloved.
Right On!Now, Grains of Wrath, it has such a nostalgic affect on me, like the first time I listemned to Generator or Against The Grain. DEWD NEW BR ALBUM! I'm so psyched, I've been waiting and fighting the urge to listen to it on the internet and sory for the ridiculous post, but I'm just too fuckin' psyched.

- The word 'memoriam' is not on dictionary.com! Anyone know what it means?
Hey Nik, try searching "in memoriam" instead of just memoriam. It's a latin phrase for "in memory of." You see it on tombstones a lot.

This album is incredible. I can't believe there are people who aren't impressed.
"Dearly Beloved" and "Grains of Wrath" are the standouts for me. Unbelievable choruses.

Admittedly, I've been listening to the album non-stop for a couple weeks now, but of course I celebrated "New BR Day" and bought the CD, and listening to it three times in the car with the volume turned way up, reading the lyrics in the liner.
I gotta say that Scrutiny is my favorite song on this album. It wasn't at first, but it has grown on me the most. I have no idea how to rank the other songs. I still don't like Honest Goodbye very much, but I'm giving it time (a long time). The rest of the album blows me away. What do the rest of you people who waited for today think? I can't say I share your patience.

I think this is an excellent album, it exceeded much of my expectations for it and my expectations were high in the first place. Its also quite dark which I'm happy about, and it has some of the best harmonies and drumming when compared to previous albums. As of now some of my favorites are "Requiem for Dissent" "Before You Die" "Grains of Wrath" and "Scrutiny."

I like the cd a lot, but I'm not having the same initial "holy *&%$, this is awesome!!" as I had when first listening to TPOB and TESF. I think I just need to sit down with the booklet and really get to know the album better. The songs are all solid, but I wish they had thrown in a song in the vein of Beyond Electric Dreams (very strange and haunting, but incredible). Meh, guess I just need to spend some more time with it! But hey, the songs I love so far, I REALLY love, so that's good (Dearly Beloved, Before You Die, Lost Pilgrim).

reminds me of a newer Generator album... seems a little darker than like, TESF or the new america... but still fucking amazing... besides those japan tracks are just acoustic versions of god song and sorrow... very good sound quality

meh. not too impressed. It started off pretty good, but goes downhill after requiem for dissent.
this is almost a throwback to recipe of hate... lots of midtempo songs, some unusual beats and riffs, but I think the lyrics are rather lacking this time round. I always liked BR because they're lyrics were sentences that rhymed more or less, and this album is just full of a bunch of words that are somewhat related to the word before (see Germs of perfection, before you die, requiem for dissent...).
overall I guess i'm glad I bought the album, but I dont know if I would have if I had heard it first.

after reading the booklet - which I have to say I'm a little disappointed with as it has only lyrics but no pictures or anything else - I came across a couple of things.
- The word 'memoriam' is not on dictionary.com! Anyone know what it means?
- In 'before You Die' a 'a' is missed out before 'bastard'.
- Susurrations has a very vague description on dictionary.com and is not found in any casual dictionary. Can anyone give a clearer meaning? How do they come upon such words?!
- They say 'feels' instead of 'seems' on certain occasions in 'Scrutiny'
- In 'Prodical Son' it says 'just how' when Greg sings 'the way' (...the work gets done).
There are quite a few errors similar to this but I won't list them all.
I've also now learnt a lot of new words!
Also, the staples are not put in very well in my booklet! :( I want a bigger better booklet!! But apart from that, the actual album is awesome :D

I got mine today on my lunch break. Best Buy didn't have any apparently, but I found one at FYE (unless they stacked them out somewhere else...I got the last one.) I played it once so far at work and it was pretty good. Overall it's definitely better than the last one though I don't have a full opinion on it (I never heard the leak other than that one song on myspace). I didn't think it ended all that strong though.

if anyone has the bonus tracks from NMoH i say you should uplaod them, then drop a link or two on this page so i can get my ears on them too.
since they're acoustic bonus tracks, i dont think they'll end up on any punk-o-rama like cd's anymore

Just bought my copy, for a reasonable prize of 11.90 Euro.
Great songwriting and musicianship, great production and mix. Forgotten are the times of the fuzzy Recipe For Hate or the bland sounding The New America. If there is any weaker spot on New Maps Of Hell, it's the abundance of midtempo songs towards the end, but Fields Of Mars picks up the pace again and ends the album in a very satisfying way. And Brooks is the man.

W00t! The shop hyad EIGHT copies on the shelves. Bare in mind that they're pretty much unheard of in the UK.
I was also wearing my crossbuster shirt while walking around the city today, and got LOADS of people frowning at me haha.

I got it on Saturday. Weird ay. Crowded House album was also scheduled for 10th but was already out on Saturday, so grabbed it too. I downloaded the leak of NMoH, but only listened to it once, enough to know it was awesome. Fantastic album, absolutely brilliant. To me it's very much an album experience, hard to isolate songs (not unlike latest Frenzal album) but it's definitely already up there. If they were to end their career on Fields of Mars, I think I would be content, and I didn't think that could have happened. Also Dearly Beloved's chorus sends shivers up my spine each time.
A grand album.

Yeah it was out in the UK yesterday, which was when I bought it :D I thought it was the 10th too so I went in to my local record store yesterday to ask if they were going to have it in for the 10th, and he said "I'll just get it for you now." So that was a nice suprise! Oh and it's good too. Different but good.
