I remember reading somewhere that Bad Religion and Kevin Lyman (founder of the Warped Tour) are good friends and apparently have a long history with each other. Well, Kevin invited BR to join the tour and here we are.

i agree it might be to show younger music fans what a real quality band is all about. But does a band like Bad Religion need to do this? If someone is truely into a musical genre they would naturally look into the major players within that scene and its heritage. A band like Bad Religion with the backing of epitaph and the links with other independent labels (obviously Fat comes to mind) could surely put there own tour together without the stage time being taken up by copycats? Just a thought :)

Just throwing this out there. Maybe one of the reasons they want to play with Warped is to try to show the people (especially the young 'uns) there what a real band is; to help enlighten them about the existence of original music. One of the ways to easily do this is to throw Bad Religion in with the creatively-challenged emo copycats so that the fans of said emo copycats will see that bands like Bad Religion exist. I don't think those kids will find out any other way.
Or maybe they just sold out again. ;)

I have always believed Bad Religion to be one of the few bands to truely stand by their beliefs but Jay is suggesting here himslef that the Warped tour is a part of the corporate media which the band had strived against for so long. It makes me question the reason behind Bad Religion going on the tour in the first place. Simply by being on the tour with the lame Fall Out Boy clones surely gives them credability in the punk scene playing on the same bill. If you dont agree with it dont do it. Listen to your own advice Jay.

Not quite sure how the fish was involved but I think it should stand a band.

Jay does some of the best interviews ever. I totally agree with Jay about forming a band. I got fed up with all the Fall Out Boy soundalikes and started a real punk band. He seems to really know what's up.

I took Jay's advice, though I started my band a couple years ago.
Anyways, yeah, he got it right.
