Does anyone notice the backing vocals are a little too good? Do you think they just had an exemplary night or they were doctored in the studio?

mike: i checked it on the dvd i own. you can use your american amazon account on amazon.de and all other international amazon sites, for more info go to amazon.com and then click on international. also to be clear, in the german shipment site it says delvery takes 9-12 days, you will of course have to add the time amazon needs to get the product, at that dvd it says 1 to 2 weeks, so in the end it should take around 2 to 4 weeks to get it. but yeah, someone who can read german would help you alot in this case.

where did you see that it was region 0. I was looking for that on amazon, but I don't know any German. I think I'll have to figure out how to translate that before I try and order the dvd.

to mike: just checked, the shipping will cost you 15,50 euro, will arrive in 9 to 12 days. region 0 means there are no restrictions, its region free, so your dvd player should play it.

"I bought it today over here in Europe and thank god they left the DVD in NTSC instead of doing a shoddy conversion." oh my god, i just noticed that after checking the files, althoug amazon states its pal in europe. thanks epitaph for not using the better system in europe, another thing to add to the negative list of only one subtitle language, no two channel mixed track, unsynchronized scenes during songs, too obvious cuts between songs and in the interviews... for such a long wait the dvd seems pretty much rushed.

I can't believe they've never released this in the United States. I didn't even know this was out there. I'll have to look and see if my dvd player and tv will play region 0 dvd's. Also, I'll have to see if I can translate the German Amazon site. Right now, I can't really figure out what it says. I really want this though. Sony would really make it easier if they just did a U.S. release in Region 1.

it is region code 0, which means should be playable in all regions. and its PAL, not NTSC, but most dvd players play both and i think many tv aswell, this is no problem on computers.

here is the link to the german site of amazon, they also deliver outside of germany, but not sure how much the shipment is, you would have to search on amazon for more info or email them, here is the link (please add the link together, stupid restriction on this board):

The sound is okay. The backing vocals should've been much louder and shouldn't sound like they're in a canyon. The guitars sound pretty weak instead devlivering the much needed punch.

yeah, I know you can play it without the interviews, I just think it would have been better with a seperate feature documentary with the interviews, sort of like "the Epitaph story" on the Punk-o-rama DVD.

i hope you know that you can select to play the whole concert without the interviews at the beginning, but i admit, its not made properly, you dont get the feeling that the concert is one single thing, you notice where the interview was gonna be when you play only the concert. i guess the atlantic/sony videos you mention are copyright issues, those are all on atlantics/sony punkrocksongs dvd. (i can recommend it, since the price for it has fallen) overall, the dvd could have had a little more fine tuning productionwise, especially after that many delays!

I thought the DVD was ok as far as concert DVDs go. I guess waiting so long for it to come out kinda built the hype up too much, so yeah I was a tad disappointed. I think what could have made it better was if they had 2 seperate segments - one for the concert footage, and one part a documentary/interview, instead of the 2 mixed together. In fact, the interviews were pretty good, it made me want to see more of that and less of the concert. Sound could have been a little better, but its a live show, so you can only ask for so much. I also would have rather seen videos for Digital Boy, Infected, and more of the "forgotten videos" instead of LA is burning, Sorrow, American Jesus, and Broken for the billionth time. I guess at this point Id like BR to do a NOFX style DVD with highlights from the span of their career instead of one live performance, but overall its not a bad disc. I give it 4 outta 5.

i am not having much experience with high def tvs, but you could try to check your dvd player if htere is an option to switch to interlaced, i am not even sure if the dvd is progressive. anyway, cant hurt to try. also try to use a different way to connect the audio to the tv, i dont know what connection you use (hdmi..?), but try to see if you have different options. check for visual enhancements on your tv, like deinterlacing or other features that you can turn off and try that. in the end you could try to hook another (cheap) dvd player on the tv, to see if its the tv or the player. try and error i guess, good luck!

Thanks for responding to my question. I'm also starting to think that it is something with the setup. I'm watching it on a high def tv with a progressive scan dvd player connected directly to the tv. I've read a few AV forums and have found out some dvd's have a problem with audio sync from prog scan dvd players to high def tv's. As long as everyone else isn't having this problem and no one thinks it could be a one disc thing, then I'll have to see if there are any settings I can tweak. If you have any recommendations, let me know. Thanks!

to mike: very unlikely its a one disc thing. probably something with your setup, where are you watching it? on tv, computer? you have the ntsc version or pal? how is everyhing connected? special a/v receiver for the sound, or just the tv...?

"There are audio syncing issues though during when they play a song" thats what happens when they try to mix the two days performance. on some scenes you also see brett with glasses then for a second without, or during some songs i noticed brett at the mic while during a fast cut in between he is at a complete different place. they should have done that better or just left out the mixing in during songs.

The DVD is massively awesome, especially coming from someone who has seen them at the Palladium before.
There are audio syncing issues though during when they play a song. I notice it doesn't show up between songs when Greg is talking to the audience.

Has anyone else noticed problems on the dvd with the audio synching with the video. I've noticed on the interview pieces that none of the audio matches up with the video. Has anyone else noticed this or is it something wrong with my dvd? I don't even know enough to know if that is something that could just be wrong with one persons disc. Let me know if you are having any problems.

This dvd isn't the greatest show on earth.Infact for anyone to even think that this is the most exciting thing to ever come out on this band in just plain "INSANE"...........
I really like BR but I have to agree that this was kind of long and boring in some segments.
Not really worth the wait.

I just finished watching the dvd and i thought it was entirely decent. My biggest complaint is that they didn't even mention pete finestone or bobby schayer. And I got way excited when Brett said they were working on a double album.

No. What makes it good is that it gives it more credibility if he messed up during a song. That's exactly what it would sound like if you actually saw them live, because people DO mess up. If it sounded completely perfect, you might as well listen to the CD that it's on. They could have easily re-recorded any mess-ups in the studio, but they didn't.

Jay sucks horse dick even on the DVD. He alone totally fucks up both Modern Man and Let Them Eat War. I don't give a shit about you who claims that it's only "punk rock" to play bad. I want a good sounding DVD, not a DVD where 50% of the bass lines are fucked.

Graffin packs more presence and command into one hand gesture than many of his "collegues" do in an entire show. His minimalistic movement itself is a charm of his performance. His voice is superb and his facial expressions match the mood. What more could you want from a fronter?
Also, what I want from a DVD rieview is a comment about band performance, audience, directing, cut, sound, playlist and if the DVD manages to give you this distinct beeing-there feeling. None of that here. Alos I'd like to know about lengh and structure (extras, interviews being selectible and so on). None of that there either.
So, I can't see what the basis for his valuation would be. That, my dear friends, is a badly written review.

along the way is in no way a better representation of br, perhaps of br in the late 80s, but the live at the palladium is exactly the br that you will see in a concert today. professional high quality punk rock music, where the music speaks for itself, no crazy makeup rockstar stage performance with laser show and pyrotechnics needed that is supposed to distract from poor music.

Clearly, this guy's an older writer who thinks punk was better in his younger days, and has mellowed out, errr, matured, into post-punk and indie. It's guys like this who give thirty-somethings like me a hard time for still loving Bad Religion.
Schild writes that the older performances contrast sharply with "the skate-pop of its modern performances." And I have to agree.... "Let Them eat War" is soooooooo SkatePunk.

They aren't really any slower than they are on, say, Tested. I saw it on VH1, and I think all of the songs sounded superb. The backing vocals are the best that I've heard from them live, as they had Brett, Jay, and Brian to do the three-part harmonies.

sounds like a journalism student practicing for his interview at rolling stone. that review completely lacks insight into the evolution of a band and the maturity of sound that comes from getting older. I think, as many people do, the reviewer misses the subtleties of records like the grey race, pob, tesf. this is an honest progression for a band who is still writing earnest songs from the heart.

I think, as many people do, the reviewer misses the subtleties of records like the grey race, pob, tesf. this is an honest progression for a band who is still writing earnest songs from the heart.

yeah, i agree that graffin has little stage presence. but fuck, what does that mean. he doesn't drink blood on stage or stage dive, he does what he's fucking supposed to do - sing and make a lot of crazy hand gestures. he's fucking punk who lets is voice and band make the show, not some lame ass acting from graffin. i'm on board with this all the way.

"Graffin is a mediocre frontman at best"
is he expecting him to jump around and do flips? The review didn't really seem to make me want to buy the dvd (but I know better than to trust it anyways)

I saw the DVD on VH1 (and it was only 1 hours worth of the DVD--about half) and I already give it 5 out of 5 stars just for that.
