I'm not specifically aiming my comments to any of you. We all know we'd love a small club show starring just BR and two crappy openers, I just think it takes a lot of balls to question the bands touring decisions especially since we're just lucky that they are still around and should appreciate the fact that they can still get Graffin to commit to touring.
You are right. We are very lucky that they still choose to play so many dates. We are also lucky that they've never reached huge popularity requiring $200 tickets. They've earned the right to do whatever they want really. We all just have our own preferences. 04/09/2011 at 10:16
Do the people on this site think BR is a hugely popular band or is the issue with the fact that they think BR should be bigger then they are?
No and no. I harbor no delusions about their (lack of) popularity, and I wouldn't want them to be any more popular than they are (see reasons #2-4 below). The problems with these tours where they open for crappy bands are as follows: 1. much shorter setlist 2. higher ticket prices 3. (sometimes) much larger venue 4. disinterested crowd. Not to mention that in the case of Blink, I detested them so much that there was no way I was going to let them get even one nickel out of me in ticket revenue.

in your opinion they are not that good.this argument is so 10 years ago. WEH why is BR opening for Blink182...
It goes without saying that it's only my opinion. And BR opened for Blink because it was a good opportunity to play for a bunch of people.... kinda like this was. That doesn't make Blink 182 a good band though... Wait. Please tell me you don't like Blink 182.
Yes, this is *exactly* like opening for Blink 182. And look how many thousands of new fans they got out of that tour!!!!!!...oh...wait....
How do you know what the impact of that tour was?
It's an assumption. But the spirit behind the comment was from a conversation I had with Jay ages ago about why they went on tour with Blink.
Details.
Here is my question. Do the people on this site think BR is a hugely popular band or is the issue with the fact that they think BR should be bigger then they are? I really think that some fans are delusional as to how popular the band is, ESPECIALLY the ones that live in SOCAL.
My stance is that I would LOVE for the band to be more popular than they actually are. No delusions going on here in that department. My whole gripe about this tour is only that Bad Religion is more talented, has better music, but will never be able to sell out shows like RA only due to the majority of people who listen to KROQ like shitty music IMO.
No question that BR is not bigger than Rise Against. When I see them in STL, I fully expect to be able to be on the railing with no issue. RA is a midwest band. I'm a fish out of water here. Nobody gives a shit about SoCal punk in STL. IMO BR would easily be behind Social D and NOFX, but partly due to the fact that they make no effort to tour here. But, just because they are not the most popular, doesn't mean they aren't the best band ever!!!!!! 04/08/2011 at 20:18

Vegas was 90% rise against fans. The energy in the place was fantastic when Rise Against was playing. You only get that at HOB style clubs for BR. 04/08/2011 at 11:42

I was encouraged when I saw the Vegas setlist at 15 songs. I hope this shorter version was only because of the Descendents. Does the dude from Rise Against do the sort-of rap portion of Let Them Eat War?Disappointed that Cyanide and Before you Die seem to be fixtures in the setlist. There are soooo many songs I'd rather hear.
no he doesn't, that is a waste of a song on the set list if he isn't.
jay's kid did it again.
Here's the setlist. I think it was way too short and felt that the crowd just wasn't into their new material. It almost seemed like they cut their playing time down so Rise Against could go on sooner, which is frustrating. At one point Greg joked that Rise Against opened for them when they were a new band and no one had heard of them. Can you tell I'm bitter that they opened for such an overrated teenie bopper band.
