For those of you who know who Joe Sib is he needs no introduction. For those of you who've never heard of him, look him up on the internet! How's that for journalism?
In addition to co-founding Sideonedummy Records (home to a.o. Flogging Molly, Anti-Flag, the Casualties and 7 Seconds) Joe Sib has been all over the music scene since age 14, performing in bands and hosting the Complete Control Radio show.
Sib is now sharing his experiences growing up as a member of the 1980s DIY punk movement in a one-man “broken word” show called California Calling. He’ll be performing the show Wednesday, November 25th at the Boathouse in Costa Mesa, and not only will audience members get to witness one of the forefathers of punk telling stories in front of tons of personal photos, they’ll also be treated to a special acoustic performance by Jay Bentley (Bad Religion), Randy Bradbury (Pennywise), Mike Roache (T.S.O.L.), and Steve Soto (Adolescents).
Proceeds from the event will benefit UCP Wheels for Humanity.
The following clip is from when Sib performed the show last month at the Key Club. In this clip he talks about entering a speech contest at 14 to see Bad Religion and being the official pit starter.
When? November 25, 7 PM
Where? The Boathouse in Costa Mesa

[quote=badrelgnsf]tell me ! why do germans hate americans soooo much :P
and this looks awesome but.. dont you hate acoustic stuff like this jay? HOB you said something like EWW again. right on stage.. sat there looking bored and played no instrument!
even hetson was running around saying this slow stuff is pokey or some other such word. (notice the later half of HOB hetson is NOT in the acoustic set)
so this would be very interesting to see and discuss with jay after about :P

i didn't like the original format that we were attempting. it eventually ironed itself out and became a very good part of the show. i like the acoustic if it is done right. hetson bailed out because he couldn't play the parts... nuff said.

I'm sure he was joking around...
When they came to Winnipeg, Jay was right there on stage with an acoustic guitar in hand... until his string broke.

Costa Mesa?! Really?! Not that I'm complaining or anything, I'm just a little surprised. I figured this would be just LA for sure.
If I weren't going home for Thanksgiving that night, I would so be there...

Well, I've been to SF (and surrounding) and I do love that city, but...I wouldn't be able to live there for the rest of my life; it still is the US. 8)
I'd rather live in a big German city (such as Düsseldorf or Hamburg) or in Switzerland or Austria. But for now...the Netherlands is fine!

I do love this kind of stuff as well, but I'd never ever want to live in the US (no offense to anyone).
Anyway, I hope there will be some vids on youtube of this spoken word.

after a brief stop in LA coming from Hawaii, I can't say I'd ever miss that place.
San Francisco on the other hand - pretty much ready to pack up shit and move there with emily
