As promised, Bad Religion will be back in Australia to play some shows to make up for the cancellation of last month's tour dates. The band will be playing the Australian Soundwave Festival (again) in 2012 according to the second round of announcements. Other bands that will also hit the stages are System Of A Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson and many more. The festival will take place from February 25 until March 5.

3/02/2012 - Royal Melbourne Showgrounds, Australia

Still no news? can someone please at least give us a hint? Don't want to leave it too late to get tickets to the (Distant second best) festival.

I don't know if the bands have some "agreement" not to announce sideshows.
From the looks of it, only Melbourne's sold out... Soundwave in other cities isn't doing so well. Like you, i'd dearly love to see Bad Religion on their own at a sideshow, but if they're not able to do that, i'll get tix for Soundwave here in Adelaide. I'm planning a trip to Melbourne/Sydney in early March, so if the only sideshows are there, that's fine by me! |

Still no word regarding the likelihood of sideshows then? How do these things normally unfold - once the festival is sold out, then bands can go ahead and announce / organise sideshows without upsetting the festival promoters too much?
If it comes to it, I would dearly love to be sure if the rumoured sideshows were just that, and certain to not go ahead, while I can still crumble and get festival tickets as a (poor) second best. Moving to Adelaide from Brisbane over summer, but if the sideshows are only on in Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane / Darwin / Goondiwind, well that is where we will be going... Is it strange to be contemplating spending over $500 a person (inc airfares etc) and flying 2000km to see a band play for an hour longer that they would have been playing at the festival? Not in my opinion - though of course, the best option for all concerned is a sideshow at the Thebby! (Save the planet Jay - prevent me and my rellies from flying over 2000 km - Won't somebody think of the carbon?) Seen some great shows there, The Clash, NOFX (Twice) and of course, BR. The atmosphere, acoustics, very enthusiastic crowds and overall great vibe makes it the only intelligent choice. Cheers, VVilly |

Yep, that's how I feel.
I happily paid $165+ for my Soundwave Revolution ticket cos not only was Bad Religion gonna be there, but also Sum 41 and a heap of my other favourites, whereas this time around, it's more "metal" than "punk", and like you, i'd much rather see BR play indoors at The Thebby (here in Adelaide), or i'd happily fly to Melbourne or Sydney to see them. Soundwave 2010 sucked at Bonython Park, so I really hope they announce some sideshows soon! |

Was checking out some BR vids on the web, had every hair on my body standing up, got a feeling I should see if there was any news of a trip to Oz in the near future... checked the brpage, and there you go!
Mixed feelings though - would happily pay the $160+ per head to see BR at the Thebby (Best venue in Australia IMHO, saw the clash there in 1981 heh) but not keen on the festival concept (40 minutes per band is fine for most, but not with 30+ years of back catalog to choose from...) or lineup... Hope they confirm some sideshows soon... I promised my nephew I would take him next time... Will fly to Brisbane or Sydney or indeed pretty friggin much anywhere to see BR again! Come on Jabberwock - make my year complete! |

Mates.. if a dream came true it would be if MR BRETT GUREWITZ came to oz and ripped up every soundwave.. i've seen br 5 times since 97 in oz and i havn't had the pleasure of watchin mr brett grace the stage.
Is anyone keen to get a real three pronged attack at soundwave in 2012.. No offence to maiden but i went to melb (sidewave) and adelaide (soundwave) and your too old. c'mon brett cmon down and get a tan and check out soundwave. it is the best festival in australia in summer |

Awww c'mon, there's nothing wrong with HIM. I love their depressingly slow songs. Not that I don't like Faith No More. I would've watched both if I could, but in a way, I heard both at the same time!
I wish Bad Religion would do something totally different when they tour here next, like play a track acoustically or get Greg to perform "Cease" (American Lesion style). But yeah, here's hoping they do some side-shows or another tour (that's not a festival). |

I think i'll pass on Soundwave. I'd be paying $170 essentially just to see Bad Religion (which would be worth it), but Bonython Park sucks. Last year's Soundwave was there, and the only band that sounded decent was AFI. The audio setup they had there was horrible. The audio from one stage could be heard at another (Faith No More totally drowned out HIM), and the dirt was flying (it was a windy day), but the ground there... urrrgh! If anyone hears news of dates for side-shows please let us know on here. Even if they're not in Adelaide, i'd happily fly to Melbourne or Sydney to see them! |

Fingers crossed for Brisbane then! Arena seems to have sorted their PA, Frenzal actually sounded pretty good the other week ... the HiFi would be sooo good as would the Tivoli. AJ said we would possibly get some sideshows if SW sold out post haste ala Melbourne. BUT im optomistic, you gotta be in this topsy turvey world of ours. |

Is Bad Religion definitely playing at Soundwave?
There's still no mention of the full line-up on the official Soundwave page or on TickeTek. Is there any chance of Bad Religion doing some side-shows or touring OZ another time and playing at the Thebby (here in Adelaide) like they did in 1997, 2007 & 2009? I'd much rather go to see Bad Religion play indoors than part of a festival. The lineup for Soundwave Revolution was a lot better too! |

Totally, hopefully the outdoor setup was better than Riverstage though. Powercut halfway through queue Greg "i bet this would never happen to Slayer!" who played the next night ... Jays bass setup broke so he used Fat Mikes! Gotta love ourdoor shows, right?! Jay do you know if you are scheduled for Main Stage or Headlining punk alley? @Alice, sideshows PLS! and Strung Out are also on the bill! |
